Daniel Mifsud
2007 Australian Idol finalist Daniel Mifsud is being hailed as one of the finest all-round talents to come out of the hit reality TV show since its inception.
A prolific songwriter at only 24 years of age, Daniel’s youth belies a wealth of performance experience and musicality. His good looks and exceptional vocal abilities aside, Daniel possesses an old school charisma and on-stage presence that truly separates him from the rest of the pack. This all-round talent came to the fore when Daniel not only performed but also arranged the Kiss mega-hit ‘I was made for loving you’, receiving a much coveted ‘Touch Down!’ from the judges in arguably the country’s toughest performance based competition.
Prior to appearing on Australian Idol, Daniel honed his abilities with the critically acclaimed vocal group Jubilation, performing at countless events, concerts and festivals across Australia and New Zealand, including the televised Carols In The Domain and The Red Cross Royal Gala for Princess Mary & Prince Frederick of Denmark.
Daniel’s Jubilation experience also gave him the opportunity to work first hand with and support some of the biggest names in Australian music including rock icon Jimmy Barnes, hit maker Alex Lloyd, best female ARIA nominee Jade MacRae, former Idol winner Guy Sebastian, The Young Divas and Daddy Cool himself, Ross Wilson to name but a few. Apart from this extensive vocal work, Daniel honed his song-writing and solo stage skills by performing originals at venues around Sydney in the lead-up to Idol 07, leading to vocal sessions for a major Australian produce television commercial and a long-running Wheet-Bix television campaign.
However it was his eleven live solo television performances on Australian Idol that really won the hearts and minds of the massive Idol viewing audience. From the very outset of the
competition, Idol judge Ian ‘Dicko’ Dickson proclaimed that “Daniel was his favourite, and the only one he remembered from the whole country’s auditions” for Australian Idol 2007.
This initial acclaim was to be cemented week by week as Daniel showed his great versatility, distinctive vocal tone and style to make each hit song from each musical genre his own.
Standout performances included Robbie Williams’ ‘Kids’, ‘Lay You Love On Me’ by Roachford, a Led Zepplin inspired arrangement of Justin Timberlake’s ‘Cry Me A River’ and Jimi Hendrix’s ‘Fire’. Likewise, Daniel Misfud has arrived on the Australian music scene on fire, and he is aptly poised to lay his love on the rest of the world.
