Following two critically acclaimed EPs on the FUR label (The Unbeat, 2006 & That Ghost, 2007) including the high rotation hit on JJJ with the haunting track “Burn”, talented singer-songwriter Brendan Welch is set to release his untitled debut album in early 2009 (FUR /Inertia).

Produced by Something for Kate’s Paul Dempsey and mixed by ARIA Award winning engineer Matt Lovell (Eskimo, Shihad, Something for Kate, Josh Pyke, The Whitlams) this debut long player is a collection of 12 sublime Brendan Welch songs.

Many have been seduced by Brendan’s subtle guitar meshes, along side his mystifying and haunting voice. The album sees Brendan move effortlessly from a musical whisper to a full on roar reminiscent of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. But it has always been about “that voice”.

Paul Dempsey and Matt Lovell have captured the essence of an emerging career artist, one whose time has come.

Brendan has toured and shared the stage with the likes of Paul Kelly, Tim Rogers and The Temperance Union, Bic Runga and The Whitlams just to name a few.

The first single from Brendan’s debut album is out in August (FUR/Inertia).

Tracks from this record will be previewed in Melbourne & Sydney on the following dates.

East Brunswick Club, Melbourne – Friday August 15
Hopetoun Hotel, Sydney – Friday August 22

A limited edition CD of exclusive tracks recorded in New York City will be available for sale at these shows.
